Background
Protect where needed, empower where possible
After eighteen years in public service, first as a teacher and ICT coordinator and later as a cybercrime and sex crimes detective in a Local Computer Crime Unit, Mathieu Verschraege chose to pursue his mission independently. He founded Mediavista in 2022.
His starting point is not fear but knowledge. Victims of online deception are not naive: they are targeted with technology and with behavioural techniques designed to work. That conviction shapes every session he gives.

In Belgium
Policy, schools and a conference of his own
Contributor to the Flemish Action Plan Safe Online 2026-2029. During the 2025-2026 school year he was online wellbeing adviser to four school communities within Flemish Catholic Education, developing awareness campaigns across 65 schools for 21,000 pupils, their teachers and their parents. He is the author of a freely available anti-bullying framework for primary and secondary schools, and he organises the Hackxposed! Conference, the Flemish conference on the online safety of children and young people, held on Safer Internet Day. The second edition takes place on 9 February 2027.
